School and Group Visits

Visit Springdale Farm and You'll Be "Udderly" Amazed

Springdale Farm offers group tours for schools, child care centers and scout troops. On a tour, visitors can enjoy the animals and activities on the farm, including a tour of the Riedman Robotic Milking Center, while addressing the New York State Learning Standards in Science, Math, English, Art and Social Studies.

    Visitors will:

  • Explore the life cycles of animals
  • Develop awareness of the interdependence of plants and animals
  • Apply observation, classifying and predicting skills
  • Apply mathematical reasoning including estimating, predicting and numeration
  • Expand listening, speaking and vocabulary skills
  • Become familiar with the products that come from a farm.

Guided tours are one-hour long, but groups are welcome to stay longer to enjoy other areas of the farm. Cost is $5.00 per person, minimum 15 people, and must be scheduled in advance. One chaperon is recommended for every six students.

Tours are scheduled Monday-Friday at 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. Special requests for tours at other times may be accommodated. Tours are hosted rain or shine. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

To help teachers and students get the most of your visit, the farm provides online pre and post-tour packets with tour descriptions and other helpful information. The post-tour packet, including a lesson plan for use in the classroom, encourages students to continue learning about what they have seen on the farm.
